One hour, start to finish
You'll leave knowing which kind of visa fits your life, and what the five places Black expats ask me about most really require.
- Digital nomad visas
- For people paid by an employer or clients outside the country: what income and paperwork each country asks for.
- Pension visas
- For people living on retirement or passive income, and where those routes actually exist.
- Working visas
- Job offers, sponsorship, and how teaching jobs fit in.
- Student visas
- Study abroad, language programs, and how a degree can lead to a job.
Five destinations, honestly
Thailand, Vietnam, China, Portugal, and Korea. For each one you'll hear the visa requirements, the good, the hard parts, and what the community looks like.
Relocation basics
Paperwork, proof of funds, housing, and taxes, so the visa isn't the only thing you've planned.
Hi, I'm Candice.
I moved overseas at 19 on a student visa, and I kept going. I've lived in about seven countries, traveled to about thirty, and spent more than twenty years in Korea, where I taught, led a 20-person instructional staff at Berlitz Korea, and built ShyGirlsFly.
I hold an MA in International Relations and a Cambridge CELTA. I do this work on my own terms now, in a way that helps you. When I say I get it, I get it.

Questions
Is this legal or immigration advice?
No. I share what each country requires and how the process works. Requirements change often, so you'll get pointers to confirm everything on official government sites before you apply.
Do I need a US passport?
The examples use US passports, but bring whichever passport you hold and we'll look at it together.
What if I can't make it live?
Many registrants watch the replay, and you can send your question ahead of time or ask one-on-one.
When is the next session?
The first Tuesday of every month at 8:00 PM Eastern. The date near the top of this page always shows the next one in your own time zone.
